Hotels: Roomz Vienna (Gasometer)

The @HDSAcademy in Vienna is near Gasometer City, so they put me up at Roomz for my trip in Feb-2009. This trip, I taught at the Fast Lane office in the same neighborhood, so back to Roomz I went.

The rooms at Roomz are typical European rack-class. The beds are small, and a couple will feel like they're in the old "Dick Van Dyke Show," but it's designed/classified as a budget hotel.

Bathroom is a good size. No tub, but a big shower, nicely designed. The bathroom is three distinct parts-the shower, then a sink/dressing area, then a full Euro-style WC. Again, you can see it's a budget hotel, where you might have 2-4 people in a room who would all be sharing the bathroom simultaneously.

The restaurant and bar. Breakfast (included with in the €75 a night room rate) served daily. I've been in hotels that charged more than double what Roomz charges that don't have breakfast buffets as good as theirs. They do "American" with scrambled eggs and bacon, as well as full continental with a large assortment of breads, cold meats, cheeses, veggies, pastries. Coffee/tea and juices, of course.
In the evenings, the bar has a good beer and wine selection, a couple of nice Rieslings and Ottakring bier on tap. Free wi-fi at the bar as well; just ask for a code.
The staff has always been friendly and helpful, not that I've had any problems where I've required their help. That's a statement in itself about the hotel!
